Situated in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Delaire Graff Estate was acquired by Laurence Graff of Graff Diamonds in 2003, who re-invented it as a luxury resort and winery. The winery quickly gained a reputation for producing wines of outstanding quality, packed with intense fruity flavours. The region is characterised by a Mediterranean climate that is largely impacted by the confluence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, resulting in long, warm summers and cool windy afternoons.
Morné Vrey began his career as assistant winemaker in Stellenbosch before joining harvests in France and Germany. He then widened his experience into new world wine styles in New Zealand. Over the last 10 years, Monré has produced award-winning wines from the estates Bordeaux red grape varieties and Chardonnay, as well as vinifying Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and others.
Delaire Graff produces a range of wines from sparkling to red. The grape varieties produced are:
- Rare Red Blend* (24.43%)
- Sauvignon Blanc (21.04%)
- Chenin Blanc (16.29%)
- Chardonnay (14.93%)
- Shiraz (9.51%)
- Cabernet Sauvignon (7.47%)
- Cabernet Franc (6.33%)
*Red wines made from unusual or rarely seen combinations of grape varieties.
