Bright red cherry aromas in a soft style. Rich berries, a little green stalk and a hint of black pepper on the palate. Supple, silky tannins pair well with gentle spice on the finish. The grapes are machine-harvested before being vinified in stainless steel tanks. Modern winemaking techniques include thermoregulation with micro-oxygenation. Fermentation lasts for 20 days. The resulting wine is estate-bottled. Pairs brilliantly with roast duck, venison or pheasant.

The House of Ségur is an old French noble family dating back to the 9th century. The Marquis de Ségur, Nicholas Alexandre (1697 – 1755) was the largest owner of vineyards in Bordeaux (owning three First Growths: Latour, Lafite and Mouton, as well as Calon Ségur and Pontet Canet, amongst others) which earned him the nickname “Prince of Vines” from King Louis XV. Today’s 47 hectare vineyard, planted in 1992, is owned by Gisèle and Daniel Vidal with their son Florian taking an active role in the winemaking process. Situated on a vast limestone plateau overlooking the breathtaking Segur Valley in the heart of Entre-deuxMers, the site was originally a quarry and the winery and cellar are carved into the rock itself. Ségure translates from Old French as “well-defended”.
