Huyghe brewery has a history that stretches back more than 360 years. In 1902 a man called Leon Huyghe started working at a brewery in Melle called the Appelhoek. 4 years later, Leon bought the brewery and renamed it Brouwerij-Mouterij den Appel. In 1936 the brewery moved to a new site where the beer is still brewed to this day. In 1992 the Huyghe family took over the "Campus", "St Idesbald" and "Vielle Villers" breweries. It is from this year that the brewery would be known as Huyghe brewery.
