A very antipodean feel to this Shiraz Selection. Give it a try to discover how well they make this medium to full bodied red in the southern hemisphere.

Shiraz wine refers separately to two different well-known wines. Historically, the name refers to the wine produced around the city of Shiraz in Persia. In the current era, "Shiraz" is an alternative name for the Syrah grape, mostly used in Australia and South Africa. The modern "Shiraz" grape is identical to Syrah and originated in southeast France with no established connection to the city of Shiraz in Persia.

Contents of Case:

  • 2 x Dry River - A deep and inky red in colour, Dry River Shiraz displays a nose of smoky rich fruits with a touch of mint. Smooth and rich on the palate with spicy flavours of luscious dark berry fruits, the balanced tannins help to deliver a tremendously concentrated finish. Serve at room temperature and try partnering with spicy dishes such as Mexican fajitas or Cajun chicken.
  • 2 x Nugan Estate 3rd Generation -  A full-bodied Victorian Shiraz displaying ripe berry fruit aromatics with touches of earth, pepper and dark chocolate. The aromas follow through to the palate with its spiced-up, sweet red berry fruit flavours, leading to a silky tannin flourish. Pairs well with most meats, including poultry, pasta and even spicy Asian dishes.
  • 2 x Nugan Estate Scruffy’s - A rich, intense, smooth, full-bodied red wine with blackcurrant, black cherry, sweet spice and black pepper notes on the nose and the palate. Easy drinking and pairs well with a juicy beef burger, roast lamb, beef dishes and medium to mature cheeses.
  • 2x Pitchfork - A fruity, smooth and easy going Shiraz - far too easy to drink! Bright with colour and aromas of plum and red currant over toasty mocha and spicy oak. The palate is full flavoured with plum, blueberry and mocha notes. The tannins are well balanced and give the wine great structure and length
  • 2 x Rickety Bridge - Opulent dark forest fruit with aromatic notes of spice, white pepper and dark chocolate. The palate is textured and layered, showing elegance and refined structure. Fresh, juicy and balanced acidity, subtle oak with hints of clove and mulberry lingers on the finish.  Great with game, ostrich, spare ribs, steak, roast beef and spicy lamb dishes.
  • 2 x - Some Young Punks Naked On Roller Skates - A rich, intense, full-bodied red wine with cassis, liquorice and violet notes on the nose with blackberries and sweet blackcurrants on the palate followed by a spicy dark chocolate finish. Will drink well on its own or pair with meat dishes, the stronger the flavours and seasoning, the better.
