Avondale Wines is a family-owned farm run by proprietor, Johnathan Grieve, who is sometimes also known as ‘Jonty’. This exclusive range of exciting wines celebrates our natural vineyard eco-system where a posse of glossy Pekin ducks patrols our vineyards to find and eat snails which would otherwise cause serious damage to our vines. Our ducks are a highly effective, eco-friendly way to avoid using harmful chemical poisons to manage pests. This is just one of the many ways that Avondale works with Nature to produce premium quality, organically certified wines, while ensuring that our beautiful place on Earth is protected for future generations.

Jonty’s Ducks wines are slow made with natural yeast, free of all artificial additives, certified organic, low in sulphur and absolutely delicious!

• 1 x Avondale Jonty’s Ducks Pekin Red - A rich, rustic red made from a blend of six varieties, the Jonty's Ducks wines are named after Avondale's team of natural pest controllers - their flock of ducks! On the nose there is lots of blackcurrant and liquorice, with a hint of dark chocolate and ground coffee. The wine has an explosion of fruit on the palate and well-integrated, elegant tannins to support it. Biodynamic and organic.

• 1 x Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin White - A crisp elegant white made from a blend of five varieties, the Jonty's Ducks wines are named after Avondale's team of natural pest controllers - their flock of ducks! The nose displays pure fruit; lime, grapefruit and pineapple with just a dash of honey. The palate is dense with ripe flavours and juicy with tangy peach and apricot flavours, delivered with good intensity and freshness. Biodynamic and organic.

The picturesque 160-hectare farm that is today known as Avondale has been under cultivation for more than 300 years. Early records show that the land was one of the first in the Paarl Valley to be allocated specifically for the production of wine grapes. Avondale is now home to the Grieve Family and 25 farm worker families.
