The King of Red Wines, consistently a showstopper and delivers even better with some aging to it. Vineyards are planted on deep red Hutton and Avalon soils. Delightfully perfumed with spicy vanilla oak and an abundance of red fruit and cherry aromas. Soft silky tannins on the palate with flavours of lead pencil, cigar box and sandalwood. A lingering finish persists. Excellent with grilled ribeye steak. A classic match for richer savoury dishes, springbok fillet or black mushroom stroganoff.
This wooden gift box is padded to provide a secure and elegant way to present a bottle of wine as a gift. Embedded in the lid you'll find a selection of wine tools to help you open and serve the perfect glass.
Accessories within the wooden gift box include a waiters' friend corkscrew with crown bottle opener and foil cutter, a pourer to help oxidise the wine, a wine collar to catch any drips and a stopper to help keep the wine fresh.
Hartenberg is nestled in a valley on the free-draining, north-eastern slopes of the Bottelary Hills. Vineyards face north, west, and east, with varietals planted to take advantage of either morning or afternoon sun. There is a difference in altitude of some 250 meters between the northern and southern vineyards.
On 1 January 1987, Ken Mackenzie, purchased Hartenberg, having seen the potential that the perennial under-achiever offered. His daughters continue a program of investment in the farm, focusing on three key areas: the replanting to specific sites of premium varietals, the development of production facilities, and upliftment, through knowledge and skills for employees. The Mackenzie vision, though extremely ambitious, remains simple: to do whatever it takes to produce wines of outstanding quality.
