Vineyard & Wine Region Information
Carmenère was originally grown in Bordeaux and taken to Chile by the early European settlers. In Europe, this varietal was then almost entirely wiped out by the Phylloxera plague in the late nineteenth century, and is now only grown commercially from the original rootstock found in Chile.
The Bouchon Block Series wine is made from hand picked grapes from 3 small plots of vines in the Maule Valley. Immediately following vinification its matured for 8 months in French oak, giving it structure and complexity, whilst retaining its dark fruit notes.
