Fruity bouquet of blackcurrant, strawberry bush and plum, leading to a smooth, full-bodied palate with a long finish.
The different varieties were vinified separately, and spent between eight and ten days fermenting in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 25 and 28°C. The wine then spent twelve months maturing in large oak barrels.
Gold Medal, Sommelier Wine Awards 2020
The Quercus wines are made a stone’s throw (a couple of miles, anyway) from Marco Felluga’s Collio vineyards. Goriška Brda is Slovenian for Collio Goriziano, and while these hills may be divided by a political boundary, viticulturally they are one and the same. Angela Muir MW consults on the winemaking, so the result is fresh, modern wines that offer an extra terroir-driven elegance for the price.
