This vintage is a triumph, and a testament to what Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc can achieve with perfect terroir and expert hands.

Sassicaia 2021 is a beautifully integrated wine with lovely depth and great length.  On the nose, expansive red cherry fruits and wild berries mingle with notes of savoury spice, Mediteranean herbs and a hint of lavender. Succulent red cherry and sweet plum fruits and a note of delicate spice lead to an incredibly long finish with a refined mineral character.

Intense on the nose with aromas of black berry fruit, blackberry jam, gravel, spice, leather and liquorice. The palate is rich and elegant with savoury fruits and fine and grippy tannins well balanced with a sharp acidity and a very long finish. Sassicaia is an opulent wine with complex, intense and precise aromas. This is a masterpiece.

100 Points – Robert Parker

99 Points – Decanter

98 Points – James Suckling

Tenuta San Guido is named after the Saint Guido della Gherardesca who lived during the XI century. It is located on the Tyrrhenian coast, between Leghorn and Grosseto, in Maremma an area made famous by Italian Nobel prize winner Giosuè Carducci, and it stretches for 13 km from the sea to the hills.

Three are its defining characteristics: the Sassicaia wine, the Razza Dormello-Olgiata thoroughbred studfarm and the Bird Sanctuary Padule di Bolgheri. They divide the estate between the Padule on the coast, the horse's training grounds on the plain, and the vineyards planted up to 350 meters on the hills. The latter have been given their own DOC, the DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia, the first, and so far only case in Italy of a DOC contained in one estate.
