Vineyard & Wine Region Information
Spanna is the most traditional Nebbiolo based wine in Northern Piedmont. Antonio Vallana grapes are thoroughly monitored during each ripening stage to ensure the best quality and to set the best harvest date, usually in the first half of October. Vinification takes place in cement tanks in order to obtain a wine suitable for ageing. The wine is only released for sale following at least two years of maturation.
Owned and run by five generations of the Vallana family, the estate is currently in the hands of Giuseppina Vallana, together with her children: Francis, a trained enologist with a Ph.D in viticulture and Marina, who holds a degree in Philosophy and is a qualified sommelier
