Intensely ruby red in colour, Tignanello 2020 has exceptional aromatic complexity: notes of ripe red fruit especially cherries, strawberries and blackberries are accompanied by delicate floral hints of violets, mallow blossoms and roses. Its bouquet is completed by notes of roasted coffee and cocoa powder. The vibrant entry gives way to a caressing layered mouthfeel. Tignanello is one of the most influential wines of Italy. First made in 1970, it became one of the first Supertuscans in 1971, when it had to be labeled as a lowly table wine despite its obvious quality. It was a pioneering wine: it was the first Sangiovese to be aged in small barriques, the first to use international grape varieties in the blend and one of the first red wines in Chianti to be made without the inclusion of white grape varieties.

Tenuta Tignanello is a 788-acre estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, and the home of two vineyard jewels in the Antinori crown: Tignanello and Solaia. They also make a superb Chianto Classico Riserva.

The Antinori family have been producing wine in Tuscany for six centuries and exporting it for four. The purchase of the Tignanello estate in 1900 marked the beginning of a remarkable period of expansion which shows no signs of abating. Tenuta Tignanello is situated between the Greve and Pesa valleys in the heart of Chianti Classico. Of the 147 hectares of vineyards, forty-seven hectares of ideal marl and limestone soil are used for Tignanello itself. White stones have recently been laid under the rows, reflecting light back to the vines and improving the maturation of the grapes.
