Zensa, pronounced 'senza', by Italian definition means 'without'. It's a reference to their winemaking philosophy and practices, which are entirely organic and focus on as little human interference as possible. The team at Zensa focus on using organic grapes from Trapani and Puglia, crafting wines from indigenous varieties such as Nero D'Avola, and Fiano. Grapes are selected from low-yielding, fully organic vineyards, which are rich in wild flora and fauna that replace the need for chemical pesticides or insecticides. The winery stick to the motto 'green in the growing, and friendly in the production', also electing to use no products of animal origin at any stage in their process - meaning their wines are entirely vegan-friendly. With as little human interference in the winery as possible, the final range is fresh, fruit-forward, and emblematic of the natural, sun-filled vineyards from which they grew.

Contents of Case:

• 1 x Fiano - A fragrant, fruity, dry white wine with orange blossom, mango, peach and sage notes on the nose; peach, lemon citrus and mango notes on the palate, and an incredibly well balanced, long and persistent finish. Easy drinking, or pair with fish, shellfish or fried foods. Made from Fiano grapes which are carefully selected from low-yielding, fully organic vineyards.

• 1 x Nero d’Avola - This wine has a deep purple-red colour and an intense aroma of blackberries and blueberries. The palate is soft and silky, bursting with spicy flavours of black pepper, dark chocolate, wild berries and vanilla. The tannins are elegant, yet persistent. You will see the word appassimento on an increasing number of wine labels. It refers to wines made from grapes that have been dried for an extended period before being pressed and the juice fermented. The grapes lose water and therefore become sweeter and more concentrated in flavour.

Puglia and Sicily are producing huge volumes of wine and they are battling to be the second biggest wine producing region in Italy. The hot climate is reflected in the wines and they are famous for their inexpensive, full-bodied, warm and fruit-forward red wines.
