The brewing team developed Lighthouse from the pages of Adnams coveted brewing books and use our original Champion Pale Ale recipe as its foundation. That beer scooped multiple awards many from 1922 to 1980 and used ingredients that we could still get today, including Fuggles and Goldings hops. Southwold’s Lighthouse is a listed building and can be seen from the brewery window, and up to 18 nautical miles at sea. The concentric circles on the bottle label represent its light. Adnams has a long and colourful history. We're proud of our Southwold roots, which help give us the strength and confidence to grow and evolve, keeping us fresh and innovative.
Beer has been brewed on the same site in Southwold for at least 670 years. Our long history gives us firm foundations and we look forward to an exciting and sustainable future.
