Kakira 40% ABV African 5 Year Old Dark Rum 70cl
From 'grass to glass', Kakira Dark Rum is made from molasses derived from sugar cane grown on the Kakira Estate, East Africa's largest sugar producer. Fermented and then copper-pot distilled, Kakira Dark Rum is aged on the Equator at Kakira in ex-Bourbon and Sherry cask soleras for a minimum of 5 years before it is finished with a touch of the very cane sugar it was made from and bottled on the premises with water from Lake Victoria, the source of the River Nile.

A rich and warming embrace of tropical notes including banana, coconut and almond with a complex yet smooth toffee-like finish.

Kakira Gold Rum is distilled from the finest sugar cane grown on the Kakira Sugar Estate in eastern Uganda. Located on the shores of Lake Victoria at the source of the River Nile. The fertile land, temperate climate, and unique terrain combine to yield a complex and aromatic special rum. Our pot distilled rums are solera aged in select American Bourbon barrels and Spanish Sherry casks for a minimum of 5 years.

A Taste of Africa from the Kakira Sugar Estate
Kakira Spirits was started on the Kakira Sugar Estate, established in 1930 by the Madhvani Family in the Jinja Region of Uganda. All the products offered are produced from sugar cane, specifically the molasses left over from the sugar production. At the core of the brand, it was started to decrease waste and carbon footprint during the sugar making process and increase revenue. Since then Kakira has grown substantially; producing award winning spirits & creating a charitable fund for the local environment, wildlife, and water conservation in Uganda.
