One of our seasonal spirits. Our Damsons are collected along the Newlyn Coombe towards the end of summer. The damsons are infused in our Caspyn Dry Gin along with Christmas spices including star anise, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg. Infusion takes about three months and the Damson Gin is released for the beginning of December. Damsons give the gin a real tartness (which is balanced by adding sweetness) and due to the long infusion, a hint of almond from the stone fruit.

THE TEAM EFFORT
Every year at the start of September the Pocketful of Stones team takes over a field in Newlyn to handpick damsons. This kicks off Damson Week, a week of festivities for the team where we can all catch up, share war stories, discuss the highs and lows of the last twelve months and get excited about the year ahead.
Most importantly, it’s a week to say thank you to everyone for all the hard work of the past year and is remembered for exploring the Cornish coast, late nights, and sharing outstanding meals in many of the world-class restaurants that Cornwall has to offer. At the end of it, we have a lot of great memories, a few sore heads and a stunning Damson Gin!
Along with our freshly picked damsons, star Anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and orange are added to the infusion, giving spicy and warming flavours without being overly sweet.
Our Damson Gin can be served with lemonade or soda but is probably best enjoyed after a hearty dinner accompanied with a cheese board by a fireplace.
Cocktail: A Dam Shame. Damson and Champagne. Acidic, tart and slightly sweet.
