Dolcetto d’Alba is a lively ruby red colour. The nose offers vivid sensations of freshly pressed grapes, floral notes, and hints of ripe fruit. On the palate it’s full-bodied and balanced with a pleasant almond finish.
Dolcetto is a historic wine from Piedmont’s long-established winemaking traditions. Aging occurs in steel vats in order to bring out the full expression of aromas and flavours characteristic of this grape variety.
The wine was bottled, unoaked, in the spring following the vintage.
Suitable for Vegans
Alfredo Prunotto founded his business in 1922, and was one of Piemonte’s most dynamic exporters until his retirement in 1956. The company passed then to Prunotto’s friend Beppe Colla, now a revered winemaker and one of the founding fathers of modern Piemonte. The quality of the top wines goes without saying, but the rest of the range is made with equal aplomb. The style is modern without being exaggerated: freshness of aroma and approachability of structure are viewed as positives, but copious new oak is not.
This Dolcetto is grown on sandy clay soils in the Barbaresco, Treiso, Alba and Monforte districts. The soil is a mixture of sand and clay.
