An exquisite English sparkling wine with depth and complexity. The perfect sparkling wine to mark a special occasion. Ripe stone fruits and baked apples layered with notes of brioche and toasted almonds.
Attractive golden copper hue. Delightful bouquet of ripe stone and citrus fruits lifted by floral notes. Baked apples on the palate are layered with complex notes of brioche and toasted almonds, characteristic of a generous bottle-ageing. A rich, yet beautifully balanced wine with delicate bubbles, a silky texture and a long-lingering finish.
Our Blanc de Noirs 2015 is crafted exclusively from hand-picked Pinot Noir grapes grown at our Roman Villa vineyard. After careful selection, the grapes are whole-bunch pressed and partially fermented in the finest French oak casks. A generous lees ageing for a minimum of 36 months gives this wine depth, complexity and richness. It is drinking well now but will undoubtedly, continue to improve with bottle age.
The winter preceding the 2015 growing season was a cold one which vines tend to enjoy as it encourages a well-earned rest. Spring arrived later than usual with budburst taking place in early April, thankfully avoiding the frosts. Cooler temperatures in August slowed the growing season down, resulting in a slightly later than normal veraison. By harvest time, the fruit was ripe with perfect acids and we could be incredibly exact on picking dates ensuring optimal levels of sugar, acidity and aromatics.
Our vineyards span the width of the beautiful county of Sussex in the South of England. In these picture-perfect locations we are very fortunate to have a variety of soil types giving us a multitude of stylistic elements to play with when blending our classic English sparkling wines.
Our oldest vines were planted in 2006 at our home vineyard located close to the village of Tillington to the West of Petworth. We have a full-time vineyard team who manage our estates and use their wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure we produce the best possible fruit for our wines in every growing season. They are the unsung heroes behind our award-winning vintage sparkling wines.
Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, our vineyards are a natural habitat for an extraordinary collection of wildflowers, deer, hare, birds and so much more. Minimising our environmental impact and maximising conservation and biodiversity lies at the core of everything that we do. We have enormous respect for our beautiful surroundings and aim to protect our environment as best we can and in every way possible.
