"Nero d'Avola" is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. It is named after Avola in the far south of Sicily. It is frequently compared with New World Shiraz wines due to its sweet tannins and plum or peppery flavours. Intense and smooth red wine, full of ripe red berry aromas and flavours supported by soft tannins. An ideal accompaniment to any tomato based pasta dishes or red meat. Or, perhaps try with Parmigiana aubergines. Vegan
The Wine People is a new company established in 2009 and is run by Stefano Girelli and Peter Kosten, two friends connected by an extremely high level of experience of the wine world and the desire to create an innovative wine company. They have combined their skill and experience to bring affordable good value wines from across Italy. The Wine People is in complete control of the entire production process, starting with careful management of the grapes, and meticulous winemaking by the highly talented winemaker Stefano Chioccioli. One of his great skills is to respect the provenance and style of each wine, making him the ideal winemaker for the diverse The Wine People portfolio.
